Yusri Calls For Reflection After Perak’s Home Defeat To Sabah

MANJUNG, Perak FC head coach Yusri Che Lah could not hide his disappointment after his team fell 2-4 to Sabah FC in the 2024/25 Super League match at the Manjung Municipal Council (MPM) Stadium earlier today.

Yusri admitted that Sabah, managed by Datuk Ong Kim Swee, played better than the home team.

Yusri expressed clear frustration with today’s result, as Perak failed to secure any points despite having won three consecutive matches prior to this.

‘Even though we scored two goals, conceding four is a significant setback, and the players need to take responsibility. There are no excuses other than to reflect on where we went wrong.

‘Perhaps my players were somewhat nervous during corners or long throws by the Sabah players due to their height advantage, which put them under constant pressure in those situations,’ he said during a press conference after the match.

Yusri added that Sabah’s players had the ability to hold the ball and mount effective attacks, particularly when the opposing team made mistake
s.

‘If we make mistakes, it’s very easy to be punished, and that’s exactly what happened in the last 10 minutes when they scored their third goal,’ he said.

Meanwhile, Sabah head coach Datuk Ong Kim Swee praised his team’s fighting spirit, which enabled them to secure three points in Manjung.

‘Believing in themselves and their teammates was the key to Sabah’s victory over Perak. They had confidence and never gave up until the final whistle.

‘However, the win over Perak did not come easy, as the players had to adjust to the hot weather in Manjung, which is different from Kota Kinabalu, and some players were also dealing with injuries,’ he said.

Sabah currently sit in fourth place in the Super League standings, behind Terengganu FC, with 17 points from 11 matches.
