YAYASAN PETRONAS BRINGS AIDILFITRI CHEERS TO PWD, SENIOR CITIZENS


JOHOR BAHRU, A total of 550 underprivileged families comprising persons with disabilities (PWD) and the elderly in Johor, Melaka and Negeri Sembilan received assistance from Yayasan Petronas in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

According to a statement issued by Yayasan Petronas, the aid in the form of food items was presented through the Aidilfitri 2024 Promotion Programme in collaboration with the Social Welfare Department (JKM).

The recipients were made of 250 families in Johor, 150 in Melaka and another 150 in Negeri Sembilan, said the statement.

The statement added that food supplies distributed to recipients included cooking oil, sugar, flour, rice, sardines and tea as well as festive food items such as rendang paste, peanuts and coconut milk.

“The aid was handed over to the recipients from March 26 to April 5 while the entrepreneurs of the Mekar Program (Sustaining People’s Basic Economy Programme) delivered hampers,” said the statement.

Meanwhile, Petronas Southern Region general manager Mo
hd Zaki Datuk Mahat said the programme means alot to his team as it is a bridge to further strengthen relations and also an opportunity to meet the people.

Mohd Zaki added, the donation of basic food and festival hampers is intended to cheer up the aid recipients and at the same time reduce their festival burden.

In the meantime, one recipient, Esah Mat Nor, 83, said this assistance could help her prepare to celebrate the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

“I am grateful to Petronas and JKM for choosing me as one of the recipients,” said the senior citizen who suffers from high blood pressure.

In total, a total of 4,950 underprivileged families in 11 states across Malaysia have received donations in conjunction with the Aidilfitri 2024 Promotion Programme.
