malaysiangManila: The Philippine National Police Anti Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG) reported the arrest of a 32-year-old male suspect who threatened to spread explicit photos of a female co-worker in Camarines Sur.
PNP-ACG director Maj. Gen. Ronnie Francis Cariaga said the suspect installed a hidden camera inside their office restroom.
‘According to the victim, the suspect contacted her on (messaging app) Telegram, claiming to have nude photos and videos of her. He sent a photo with the message, ‘Sorry, sana hindi ikaw ‘yan (I hope that’s not you),” Cariaga said in his report Tuesday.
According to the victim, the suspect repeatedly harassed and threatened her and even demanded more nude videos.
He also insisted on meeting her at a hotel in exchange for deleting the explicit materials.
‘These actions caused the victim severe anxiety and sleepless nights, prompting her to report the incident to Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit 5,’ Cariaga said.
An entrapment operation was conducted at an apartelle in Iriga City on Sept.
10 that led to the suspect’s arrest.
He is facing charges of violation of Article 286 (Grave Coercion) of the Revised Penal Code, Republic Act (RA) 9995 (Anti Photo and Video Voyeurism Act), and Section 12 of RA 11313 (Safe Spaces Act), both in relation to Section 6 of RA 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act).
“If you know someone affected by, or if you are experiencing, online abuse or harassment, do not hesitate to report it to the nearest PNP-ACG office for immediate assistance. We are available 24/7 to support and protect you,’ Cariaga said.
Baby for sale
Meanwhile, ACG agents also arrested a 26-year-old woman who sold her day-old baby for PHP40,000 during an entrapment in Caloocan City on Tuesday.
PNP-ACG spokesperson Col. Wallen Mae Arancillo said the operation was conducted after a cyberpatrol agent spotted a Facebook post offering a baby for a fee.
‘Our cybercops engaged the person who posted the message and she later agreed to sell her baby for PHP40,000,’ Arancillo told reporters.

lace was in a lying-in clinic in Caloocan City where the suspect was arrested and her baby rescued.
Arancillo said the Facebook page where the transaction was done has more than 3,500 followers and also offers abortion.
‘These babies are helpless and could not defend themselves and this is the reason why the ACG is focusing on this, to protect them,’ Arancillo said.
