URWAH, Etiqa Takaful Provide Aid To Kedah Flood Victims

KUALA LUMPUR, Persatuan Amal Kebajikan Sahabat Urwah (URWAH), in collaboration with Etiqa Takaful, has handed over assistance to flood-hit families in Kedah through a comprehensive Flood Aid Programme.

URWAH said that over 1,000 families in the worst flood-affected areas, including the Alor Setar, Kota Setar, Pendang, Baling, Derang, Pokok Sena, Tualang and Kuala Muda districts, received the aid.

The programme, made possible by Etiqa Takaful’s financial support, aims to provide immediate assistance in the form of flood cleaning works and the distribution of food packs to the recipients.

“URWAH, on behalf of all aid recipients, would like to thank Etiqa Takaful for this contribution, especially its chief executive officer Zafri Ab Halim,” it said in a statement today.

It added that URWAH volunteers were in Kulim and Kuala Muda from Sept 27-30 to deliver food packs and help clean selected homes.

“With the water level rising, URWAH returned to the affected areas to provide more comprehensive assistance,” th
e statement added.

Meanwhile, URWAH chairman Mohamad Dhirar said it was committed to helping flood victims and thanked the state’s Civil Defence Force for assisting with the distribution process and providing escort services to all the affected areas.

“Through this programme, we hope to provide the necessary aid and support to those affected so that they can rebuild their lives,” he said.

In addition, URWAH also cooperated with three non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to ensure a more significant impact and effective coordination in the aid operation, thus reaching more families needing immediate assistance.
