Two More Suspects Detained In Attack On Security Guard And Car Wash Worker

SUNGAI PETANI, Two more men, in their 20s and 30s, have been detained to assist in the investigation into the early Thursday morning attack on a security guard and car wash worker in Bedong.

Kuala Muda District police chief ACP Wan Azharuddin Wan Ismail stated that the two suspects were picked up yesterday afternoon and last night in the Bedong area, near here.

“They have been remanded for four days until August 20. With this, four suspects have been detained for the investigation under Section 326 of the Penal Code.

“As for the death of the car wash worker, which is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code, no new arrests have been made. The number of suspects remains at six,” he told reporters after the Kedah Contingent Town Hall 2024 here today.

Wan Azharuddin elaborated that investigations have revealed that the assault was motivated by a personal vendetta between all the suspects and the two victims.

“The security guard, who was critically injured in the attack, is now reported to be
in stable condition,” he said.

The attack occurred between 1.50 am and 2.00 am last Thursday near Kampung Toh Pawang, Bedong. A car wash worker was killed, and a security guard was critically injured after being attacked by a group of individuals on motorcycles armed with machetes.

Both victims, in their 20s, were taken to Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital, however, the car wash worker succumbed to his injuries while en route to the hospital.
