Tough Task Awaits Hakim Danish In Bid To Get Into Moto3 World C’ship

KUALA LUMPUR, Teenage motorcycle racer Muhammad Hakim Danish Ramli must finish in the top three in the final round of the 2024 Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup in Santa Monica-Cella, Italy if he hopes to earn a spot in next year’s Moto3 World Championship.

ZK Racing team manager Zulfahmi Khairuddin said the 17-year-old faces a tough challenge for a top-three finish as he’s now sixth in the overall standings.

‘The target for Hakim Danish this weekend is to compete among the frontrunners and always be competitive from FP1 (first practice) until the race day. Overall, he’s in sixth position.

‘Realistically, based on his current position, his hopes are slim. I hope Hakim Danish can produce a sensational performance and get on the podium in both races,’ Zulfahmi said in an audio recording shared with reporters.

He said the final round of the 2024 Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup would determine the direction Muhammad Hakim Danish will take next season.

Round seven of the Rookies Cup at the 4.23-kilometre (km)-long Mar
co Simoncelli Misano World Circuit, which features 10 right turns and six left turns, is set to ensure a stiff fight as the overall championship is still up for grabs.

The circuit was renamed in 2012 to commemorate Marco Simoncelli, a local motorcycle racer who died in 2011.

Muhammad Hakim Danish is in sixth position in the 2024 Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup with 114 points, with Spaniards Alvaro Carpe (202 points) and Brian Uriarte (189 points) leading the standings as Argentina’s Valentin Perrone (161 points) sits in third spot.
