Thunderstorms Expected In Most States Until 4 PM Today – MetMalaysia

KUALA LUMPUR, Thunderstorms are expected in nearly all states until 4 pm today, according to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).

In a warning issued at 1.55 pm, MetMalaysia announced that thunderstorms are forecasted across Perlis, Kedah, Penang, Perak, and Putrajaya.

Similar weather conditions are expected in parts of Kelantan, including Kuala Krai and Gua Musang, as well as in Pahang (Lipis, Raub, Jerantut, and Kuantan).

Thunderstorms are also predicted in Selangor (Hulu Langat and Sepang), Negeri Sembilan (Jelebu and Seremban), Melaka (Jasin), and Johor (Tangkak, Segamat, Muar, Batu Pahat, and Kluang).

In Sabah, the same conditions are expected in the Interior Division (Nabawan), West Coast (Papar, Putatan, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu, Tuaran, and Kota Belud), Tawau, and Sandakan (Kinabatangan).

MetMalaysia added that the warning is issued when there are signs of thunderstorms with rainfall exceeding 20 millimetres per hour, either imminent or expected to last for more than an hour.


Thunderstorm warnings are short-term alerts, valid for no more than six hours per issuance,” the statement added.
