Suspect in Albertine Leo’s kidnapping to face 15 charges tomorrow


JOHOR BAHRU, The suspect who was detained in connection with kidnapping six-year-old Albertine Leo Jia Hui, which occurred at Eco Galleria, Iskandar Puteri on July 20, is set to be charged at the Johor Bahru Court Complex and Kulai Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.

Johor police chief M. Kumar said that the 31-year-old man will face 15 charges after two investigation papers were referred to the Deputy Public Prosecutor’s office and instructions for charges were given.

“The suspect will be charged with one count each under Section 363 and Section 346 of the Penal Code, seven counts under Section 292 of the Penal Code, four counts under Section 8(b) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, one count under Section 10 of the same Act, and an additional count under Section 15(a)(ii) of the same Act,” he said in a statement today.

The man was arrested around 4.45 am on July 23 at a budget hotel near Batang Kali, Selangor, along with the young girl.

On Sunday, the suspect was rearrested by police following t
he discovery of various sex toys, adult pornography and child pornographic materials at his residence near Kulai.
