SUKMA 2024: Sarawak, Selangor To Fight For Futsal Gold

KOTA SAMARAHAN, Host team Sarawak and Selangor have set up a futsal title showdown in the 2024 Malaysia Games (SUKMA).

In the semi-finals today, Asyraff Zakaris stole the show with a hat-trick in Sarawak’s 7-3 win over Perak while Selangor cruised to a 3-0 victory over Penang at the Kota Samarahan Indoor Stadium, near here.

In the Sarawak-Perak match, Asyraff got the ball rolling for Sarawak with his first goal in the third minute before doubling their lead a minute later.

Perak, under coach Ali Mahat, immediately hit back through Abdul Hadi Muhamad Azhan but Sarawak, under the guidance of Faizal Zamri, restored their two-goal lead when Muhammad Nazir Mahdini found the net in the 10th minute.

Undaunted, Perak scored two quick goals through Mohamad Amirul Aiman Mohamad Hamdan (12th) and skipper Matias Denisan (13th) to end the first-half 3-3.

The second-half saw Asyraff complete his hat-trick in the 22nd minute before an own goal by Perak’s Danish Syaufi Firhan Ramlie (30th) and further strikes from Moha
mad Syahmi Suhardi (38th) and Mohamad Nazwan Airil Mohamad Haykal (39th) ensured a comfortable win for Sarawak.

Selangor, under coach Qusmaini Rusli, had no problem disposing of Penang 3-0 in the other semi-final at the same venue.

With the Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah in attendance, the Selangor team played with an extra spring in their steps and got their goals through Zulkifli Abu Hassan Zali (fifth minute) and skipper Syahir Iqbal Khan Akhbar Khan (24th and 33rd minute).

Futsal was last contested at SUKMA in the 19th edition in Perak in 2018.
