SUKMA 2024: FT Set Sights On Two Golds In Badminton

SIBU, The Federal Territories (FT) badminton camp are confident they can take home at least two gold medals from the 2024 Malaysia Games (SUKMA) since seven of their shuttlers have had the experience of playing in the Kuala Lumpur edition two years ago.

Team manager Datuk Razifd Sidek said anything more than two golds would be a bonus for the contingent.

‘Our main gold medal hopes are the men’s singles and men’s doubles. We hope they will not feel the pressure,’ he told Bernama.

Commenting on his team’s performance after they checked into the mixed team quarter-finals today, Razif described their achievement as an excellent way to end the group stage.

‘I hope all the players are more determined now and I believe they have not shown what they are really capable of yet. I hope they keep on improving and can reach the final.

‘I have no qualms about who we will meet in tomorrow’s quarter-finals as we are ready,’ he said.

In the quarter-finals, FT will meet Johor; Perak will face Sarawak; Selangor will take
on Negeri Sembilan; and Penang will square off with Melaka.

All matches will begin simultaneously at 10 am at the Sibu Indoor Stadium.
