Strong Earthquake Hits Minahassa Peninsula, Sulawesi

KUALA LUMPUR, A strong earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale has occurred in the Minahassa Peninsula, Sulawesi at 3:51 am.

The Meteorological Department of Malaysia in a statement announced that the epicentre of the earthquake was 0.1° south and 122.9° east at a depth of 144 km which was 75km south of Gorontalo, Indonesia.

‘There is however no threat of tsunami to Malaysia,’ according to the statement uploaded on the department’s website.
