SSS partners with gov’t firms for protection of non-permanent workers

BAGUIO CITY: Social Security System (SSS) is boosting the registration of members and collection of monthly contributions to assure workers’ protection, through tie-ups with government agencies.

SSS-Baguio branch manager Nancy Umoso, in a phone interview on Monday, said they have entered memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the regional offices of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), the Department of Education (DepEd), and the different Local Government Units (LGUs) for the implementation of the KaSSSangga program.

“We continue to enter into a MOA so that we can capture the eligible SSS members and give them ease in transacting with us,” she said.

Workers who do not hold permanent position in government agencies, or those under job orders (JOs) and contracts of service (COs), are not eligible for membership under the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) but under the SSS.

Umoso said they are firm in ensuring the social protection of the workers by asking the employees to register them and p
ay their share in the contributions.

“We are promoting the KaSSSangga program to ensure the social protection benefit of the worker,’ she said.

She said SSS accepts payment through GCash, Maya, and Bayad centers.
