Southwest monsoon to bring isolated rains in most parts of PH

MANILA: ‘Habagat’ or the southwest monsoon will continue to prevail nationwide on Sunday.

In its 4 a.m. weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said a huge part of Luzon including Metro Manila will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies and isolated rain showers and thunderstorms, particularly in the afternoon and evening.

Cloudy skies and isolated rainshowers and thunderstorms are also likely to be experienced in Western Visayas, Negros Island Region, Palawan including Kalayaan Islands and Central Visayas. Residents of these areas are warned of the possibility of floods and landslides.

Eastern Visayas and most parts of Mindanao will likewise have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers and thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon. Moderate to heavy rains are also possible.

Occidental Mindoro will also have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers and thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms.

Light to mod
erate winds from the southwest direction will prevail over Visayas, Palawan including Kalayaan Islands, and Occidental Mindoro with slight to moderate seas.

Sunrise was at 5:40 a.m., while sunset will be at 6:24 pm.
