SC resets Shariah bar exams

MANILA: The Supreme Court (SC) on Monday said it has rescheduled the Shariah Bar Examinations for this year in anticipation of the holy month of Ramadan and to provide examinees with extra time to prepare.

The tribunal said the exams originally scheduled for February will now take place on April 28 (Sunday) and May 2 (Thursday). Applications are accepted online from Jan. 29 to March 18, 2024 with hard copies and necessary documents sent to the Office of the Bar Confidant by May 10, 2024.

Local testing centers will be available in the National Capital Region (University of the Philippines, Diliman, Quezon City) and Region XI (Ateneo de Davao University, Davao City).

Ramadan is scheduled this year from March 9 to April 8, 2024. It is one of the most sacred times for Muslims and is observed worldwide as a month of fasting and prayer.
