Saarani summoned for audience with Perak Sultan today

IPOH, Oct 14 (Bernama) — After being granted an audience with the Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Shah on Wednesday to seek His Royal Highness’ consent to dissolve the State Legislative Assembly, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad has been summoned for another audience with Sultan Nazrin Shah today.

 

Saarani said that he was summoned for an audience with the Sultan of Perak today when met by the media after attending the Perak Islamic Education Excellence Award ceremony here today.

 

“Not sure what the purpose (of the audience) is… we will have to wait until the palace makes an announcement,” said Saarani.

 

 

 

 

It is understood that today’s audience took place around noon at Istana Kinta after the award ceremony attended by Saarani, according to a palace source.

 

On Wednesday, during the audience, Saarani presented the dissolution application document to the Sultan of Perak, which according to Saarani, in accordance with provisions in the Perak Constitution.

 

Saarani said that during the audience, he had also informed the Sultan of the prime minister’s advice to heads of state governments to act accordingly for state elections to be held simultaneously with the 15th General Election (GE15).

 

 

Perak has 59 state seats, of which 25 seats are under Barisan Nasional, DAP (15), Amanah (five), Bersatu (four), PAS (three), PKR (three), PBM (three) and Independent (one).
