The government has in principle approved an allocation of almost RM7 million for the construction of a bridge and provision of clean water supply to the Orang Asli Villages (KOA) in the Jeram Padang area, near here, said the chairman of the Orang Asli Entrepreneurs and Economic Development Secretariat Datuk Ramli Mohd Nor.
He said the proposed bridge, to link Kampung Panchor and Kampung Batu Peti, will shorten the travelling time between the two villages by about 15 minutes, while clean water supply would be implemented in Kampung Sungai Kelebang, Jeram Padang, Sungai Raya, Temarom and Lubuk Temengalan.
He said this in his speech at a “Majlis Sehati Sejiwa” with the Orang Asli community in Kampung Orang Asli Panchor here today.
Also present was Jempol Member of Parliament Datuk Shamshulkahar Mohd Deli and the Barisan Nasional candidate for Jeram Padang Datuk Mohd Zaidy Abdul Kadir, who was in a wheelchair due to a broken leg which he sustained in a road accident recently.
“Alhamdulillah, the swelling in my legs has subsided and I’m able to move around, but in a wheelchair,” he said, adding that he would try to meet as many electors in the constituency as possible.
