KUCHING, The people of Sarawak are urged to work together to make the One Home One Jalur Gemilang initiative mooted by the Ministry of Communications in conjunction with this year’s National Month and Fly the Jalur Gemilang campaign a success.
Sarawak Information Department (JaPen) director Helmy Hamid said the participation of all levels of society in the state is important as the initiative aims to fuel the spirit of love for the country and as a sign of appreciation for the sacrifices by past leaders to achieve the country’s independence.
“All the people in Sarawak, whether in urban or rural areas, are urged to together make all the programmes that will be held in the districts a success to raise awareness on the importance of the event in the history of the formation of Malaysia,” he told Bernama.
Helmy also reminded the people of Sarawak to ensure the Jalur Gemilang displayed is in perfect condition.
‘The flags should not be torn, worn out or faded,’ he said.
Meanwhile, he said the state-level launc
h of National Month and Fly the Jalur Gemilang will be held this Saturday at CIDB Kuching Convention Center and will be attended by the Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.
He said various interesting programmes would be held in conjunction with the launch of the events, such as the MADANI Community Mini Carnival, exhibitions, and performances by PENTARAMA and Rahmah Sales.
“There will also be the state-level flagging of participants of the ‘Konvoi Kembara Jalur Gemilan’ (KMJG) who will include Puncak Borneo Member of Parliament Willie Mongin to their first destination, which is Kampung Bratan,’ he said.
He said the convoy will go to every district and division and will end in Sibu for the state-level National Day celebration on Aug 31.
