Ramos, Avanzado rule IronKids duathlon in Davao


MANILA: Euan Arrow Ramos and Eleora Avanzado ruled their divisions in the IronKids duathlon held in Davao City on Saturday.

Ramos, representing Baguio Benguet Triathlon, won the boys’ 13-15 title after completing the 3km run, 10km bike and 1.5km run event in 31 minutes and 45 seconds.

The student from Small World Christian School Foundation clocked 08:39 in the first run stage, 17:09 in the bike and 05:12 in the final run to prevail over Marco San Alegro (31:51) and Johan Joey Marcelo (33:08).

It was the sixth straight victory for Ramos, who was coming off an IronKids Subic win in June.

Avanzado, who also triumphed in Subic, won the girls’ division with a total time of 37:35. She posted 10:38 for the first run, 20:05 for the bike and 05:54 for the second run.

Christy Ann Perez (37:41) and JD Amadeo (52:10) finished second and third, respectively.

Meanwhile, Zachary Da Silva (27:24) and Lauren Tan (30:03) won the 11-12 category (2km run, 8km bike ride, 1km run).

Other winners were Adolf Bacawag (20:52)
and Searafina Redila (21:10) in the 9-10 class (1km run, 6km bike, 500m run); and John Luigi Remolino II (11:54) and Maria Jazmine Sales (13:11) in the 6-8 category (800m run, 2km bike, 400m run).

The tournament served as prelude to the fourth Ironman 70.3 on Sunday.
