Power interruptions in 4K Meralco customers due to ‘Enteng’


MANILA: The Manila Electric Company (Meralco) reported that as of 6 a.m. Tuesday, about 4,000 customers were experiencing service interruptions due to the impact of Tropical Storm Enteng.

In a statement, Meralco said most of the affected customers are in Metro Manila and the provinces of Cavite and Rizal.

‘With majority of the remaining customers in areas still affected by floods, we would like to ask for their patience and understanding as we have to follow protocols and prioritize their safety,’ Meralco vice president and head of corporate communications Joe Zaldarriaga said.

Meralco said more than half of the affected customers are in flooded areas.

‘Rest assured that our crews and personnel (are) working round the clock to restore electricity service to all remaining affected customers (at) the soonest possible time,’ Zaldarriaga added.

Meralco also urged customers to report power outages and other concerns through its official social media pages or text their concerns to 0920-971-6211 and 0917-551-6
211 or contact the Meralco Hotline at 16211 and 8631-1111.

Meanwhile, Meralco said its social development arm One Meralco Foundation (OMF) has begunmits disaster response efforts for the families and evacuees heavily affected by Tropical Storm Enteng.
