Polytechnics Must Offer Relevant, Innovative Courses – JPPKK DG

IPOH, Courses offered by polytechnics must always be relevant, innovative and and future-oriented to meet the demands of an increasingly dynamic industry, said Polytechnic Education and Community College Department (JPPKK) director-general Datuk Dr Mohd Zahari Ismail.

He said that incorporating the latest technologies, such as Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR), into the learning and training process has become a necessity, rather than merely an option.

‘I am confident that with close cooperation between polytechnics and the industry, we can produce graduates who not only excel in academic but also possess outstanding technical and vocational skills,’ he said in his speech at the 12th Polytechnic Industry Career Expo (ExKIP12) at Sultan Azlan Shah Polytechnic (PSAS) in Behrang today.

Meanwhile, Mohd Zahari said that in the challenging era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, all parties should avoid complacency and not remain in their comfort zones given the sophisticated and disruptive natur
e of the ongoing technology-driven revolution in the workforce.

‘Therefore, it is our duty to ensure that graduates possess not only strong technical skills but also the ability to adapt swiftly to future changes,’ he said.

Mohd Zahari said that ExKIP12 is more than just another event on the calendar; it is a crucial initiative in realising the aspirations of the Polytechnic Transformation Framework 2023-2030.

ExKIP12 showcases 20 companies and agencies from various sectors, offering more than 600 job opportunities and industrial training placements.

This event, organised through a strategic partnership between PSAS via the Corporate Industry Services and Employability Centre (CISEC) and the Perak Social Security Organisation, is taking place from today until tomorrow.
