PETRONAS to Boost Northern CCS Hub in Terengganu with pre-feed Study on Onshore Solutions

KUALA LUMPUR, PETRONAS, through its subsidiary PETRONAS CCS Solutions Sdn Bhd (‘PCCSS’), will embark on a five-month study to assess the onshore terminal, jetty and pipeline for its Northern Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) Hub in Terengganu, Malaysia. This study will be followed by the advancement into the Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) phase.

As one of three CCS hubs planned by PETRONAS, the Northern CCS Hub will play a crucial role in reducing carbon emissions from PETRONAS and hard-to-abate industries across the Asia Pacific region. The hub aims to achieve an initial capacity of 5 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) and is expected to begin its first CO2 injection as early as 2029.
