PBBM names Dante Ang II as new CFO chair


Manila: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has appointed Dante Francis Ang II as chairperson of the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO), Malacañang announced Friday.

Acting Communication Secretary Cesar Chavez confirmed to Palace reporters the appointment of Ang as head of the CFO.

In an appointment letter dated Oct. 16, Marcos designated Ang as replacement of outgoing CFO chairperson Romulo Arugay.

Ang served as chairperson of the National Book Development Board and board member of the Clark International Airport Corp.

Ang, the chairperson and chief executive officer of the local newspaper The Manila Times, was also named the Most Outstanding Publication Chief Executive Officer of the Year in 2024.

Established on June 16, 1980 under Batas Pambansa 79, the CFO is an agency under the Office of the President tasked to promote and uphold the interests, rights, and welfare of overseas Filipinos.

It registers and provides pre-departure orientation seminars to emigrants.

The CFO also promotes the transfer
of technology, as well as material and financial contributions from overseas for development projects in underserved communities all over the Philippines.
