PAC To Summon Johari, IRB for Nov proceedings – Mas Ermieyati

KUALA LUMPUR, The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) will summon 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) Task Force chairman Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani and representatives from the Inland Revenue Board (IRB) for proceedings starting in November.

PAC chairman Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin said the decision follows a briefing on the Auditor-General’s Report (LKAN) 3/2024 by Auditor-General Datuk Wan Suraya Wan Mohd Radzi.

‘One of the key areas that caught PAC’s attention during the briefing was the management of accounts receivable under IRB and the financial guarantees related to 1MDB.

‘Therefore, PAC will summon the IRB and the 1MDB Task Force Committee, chaired by YB Datuk Seri Johari bin Abdul Ghani, to provide additional information on the ongoing actions regarding these matters,’ she said in a statement today.

The recently published LKAN 3/2024 recommended that the government expedite the recovery of assets linked to 1MDB and SRC International Sdn Bhd, both domestically and internationally.

According to
the recommendation, the funds are crucial to cover the repayments of debts owed by 1MDB and SRC International, as well as other liabilities, given that the Assets Recovery Trust Account (AAMKA) will close by 2028, as outlined in the AAMKA Trust Directive.

LKAN 3/2024 also disclosed that 262 or 31 per cent of the 842 loans issued by the Federal Government had outstanding repayments amounting to RM9.612 billion as of Dec 31, 2023.

The arrears are based on accounts receivable, which refer to amounts the government is entitled to receive at a given time, based on invoices or through policies, agreements or government decisions in effect.
