P6-M barracks to serve male non-commissioned officers in Antique

SAN JOSE DE BUENAVISTA: The Antique Provincial Police Office (APPO) will soon commence the construction of its PHP6 million, 2-story barracks for male police non-commissioned officers at its headquarters in San Jose de Buenavista following the groundbreaking ceremony on Friday.

The ground floor will have 20 bunk beds, two comfort rooms and shower areas, and a laundry room, while the second floor will be a multi-function area.

The project is eyed for completion in 210 days.

Antique Lone District Rep. Antonio Agapito Legarda Jr., Police Regional Office 6 regional staff chief Col. Alexander Mariano and APPO director Col. Rogelio Abran Jr. led the ceremony.

‘In 2023, only Antique in Western Visayas was able to get a funding of PHP6 million from the Congress Initiated Changes Adjustment (CICA) for its modern barracks because of the request made then by former police director Col. Mariano,’ Legarda said in his message.

The fund is part of the PHP48.2 million requested by Mariano from Senator Loren Legarda when
she was still Antique representative.

Other CICA-funded projects included the renovation and enhancement of the entrance gate of the provincial headquarters, construction of the shed for police-issued vehicles, renovation of the multipurpose gym and the covered court with electronic equipment, enhancement of the administration building rooftop, restoration and enhancement of the old Philippine Constabulary building, and skills enhancement training.

Mariano served the APPO from 2022 to May 8, 2023 before assuming his current post.
