P40.9-M allocated for Cebu PWD cash-for-food QR cardholders

The Department of Social Welfare and Services (DSWD) allocated PHP40.9 million worth of assistance through the Cash for Food Subsidy Plus program.

Shalaine Marie Lucero, regional director of DSWD-Central Visayas, said the assistance program is a joint project of the agency and the provincial government of Cebu.

It is implemented through QR (Quick Response)-coded cards issued to persons with disabilities (PWDs).

Lucero said 10,249 PWDs that DSWD identified as poor will receive the PHP500 monthly subsidy for eight months.

The PWD residents of the province, including those residing in Mandaue City identified as poor by the Listahan 3 database and not belonging to 4Ps household beneficiaries, are the recipients of this project.

The beneficiaries can use the electronic subsidy QR-coded card to purchase essential commodities from accredited partner merchants.

‘Other than the need for food, we recognize that we need to address PWD rights and their other needs. That is why there is a plus to this subsidy,’ Luc
ero said.
