Overseas Filipinos encouraged to register for 2025 polls

MANILA: The Commission on Elections (Comelec) still has 182 days to meet its goal of two million new voters for the 2025 midterm polls.

On Monday, it reminded anew Filipinos living or working abroad to join the ongoing voter registration that will end Sept. 30.

Filipinos who are employed or permanently living in the country they are in or those who will be overseas during the next national polls may register.

Applicants must bring their valid Philippine passport to the nearest Philippine Embassy/Consulate General or designated Registration Centers in the Philippines.

Aside from registering as a voter, other election-related concerns are accepted.

‘They can register to vote in the 2025 National and Local Elections, update address and other details, check and reactivate voter registration status,’ read the Comelec social media post.

Overseas voting will be from April 12, 2025 to May 12, 2025.

There are some 1 million registered voters abroad, the Comelec said.
