Number Of Kedah Flood Evacuees Drops Further

Six more relief centres in Pendang have been closed, bringing the number of flood evacuees in Kedah down to just 207 as at 4 pm today, compared to 609 this morning.

According to the Social Welfare Department’s (JKM) Info Bencana report, all evacuees from 49 families are still being housed at Dewan Kompleks Rakan Sukan Tanah Merah and Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Pendang.

Six relief centres were closed gradually today, namely SMK Tanah Merah, SMK Ayer Puteh Dalam, Sekolah Model Khas Bukit Jenun, Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Tanah Merah, SK Haji Mohamad Ariff and SK Syed Ibrahim, after all victims were allowed to return to their homes. Meanwhile, the Department of Irrigation and Drainage’s Public Infobanjir portal reported that the level of Sungai Laka in Kampung Padang Pasir, Kubang Pasu had surpassed the danger point, while the level of Sungai Kedah at Jambatan Lebuhraya, Kota Setar was at the alert point.
