NACCOL Meeting Platform For Gov’t To Discuss Improving People’s Well-being – Anwar

KUALA LUMPUR, The National Action Council on Cost of Living (NACCOL) meeting is a platform for the government to scrutinise the people’s cost of living issues, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

He said the meeting is also a platform for the government to discuss the best methods to improve the well-being and welfare of the people.

“In the meeting, I stressed that Malaysia’s economic indicators, which have been encouraging of late, can only be meaningful if they are translated into the lives of the majority of people.

“At the same time, I have asked the Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar to ensure prompt action is taken by the relevant ministries and agencies after a decision is taken,’ he posted on his Facebook page today.

Anwar chaired the meeting in Putrajaya yesterday.

Anwar, also the Finance Minister, reiterated his call to civil servants to emphasise aspects of speed, transparency and savings to improve governance and the quality of service delivery.

“Insya
-Allah, the MADANI Government will ensure all policies and initiatives planned will prioritise the people’s welfare agenda to ensure no group is marginalised from enjoying the country’s development and prosperity,’ he said.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz, Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil and Minister of Agriculture and Food Security Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu.

Also present were Transport Minister Anthony Loke, Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali, Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad and Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh.
