MPKB-BRI SEIZES FIVE CARTONS OF ALCOHOLIC DRINKS IN RAMADAN INTEGRATED OPERATION

The Kota Bharu Municipal Council-Islamic City seized five cartons of alcoholic beverages and imposed a compound on a premises in Jalan Zainal Abidin here today.

MPKB-BRI president Rosnazli Mohd Amin said the seizure was made under the Trade, Business and Industrial Licensing Bylaw as it is a violation to keep alcoholic drinks in the premises.

“The premises owner was issued a compound of RM2,000 during an integrated operation conducted around Kota Bharu together with the Kelantan Islamic Religious Affairs Department (JAHEAIK) from 9.30am to 1pm,” he said.

He said the premises was raided because there were complaints of individuals not fasting hiding there and further checks found 120 cans of alcoholic drinks which were being sold without a licence.

“We monitor premises that are suspected of not complying with the business hours and violating other conditions during the holy month of Ramadan,” he said.

The operation involved 26 personnel from MPKB-BRI and JAHEAIK as well as two policemen.
