MetMalaysia Issues Thunderstorm Warning For Seven States

KUALA LUMPUR, The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning for thunderstorms and heavy rain in seven states until 6 pm today.

According to a statement released today, MetMalaysia forecasts that these weather conditions will affect a large part of Sabah, including areas such as Tambunan, Papar, Putatan, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu, Tuaran, Ranau, Tawau, Sandakan, Telupid and Beluran

Similar conditions are also expected in Sarawak, particularly in Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei, Sibu, Mukah, Kapit and Bintulu.

In Peninsular Malaysia, the states expected to experience thunderstorms or heavy rain this afternoon are Kedah (Sik, Baling, Kulim and Bandar Baharu), Perak (Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, and Kampar), and Kelantan (Jeli).

Johor is also forecast to be affected, with thunderstorms expected in Kluang, Kulai, Kota Tinggi and Johor Bahru, while Terengganu is likely to experience similar conditions in Setiu, Kuala Nerus, Hulu Terengganu, Marang and Dungun.

at this warning was issued due to signs of thunderstorms, with rain intensity expected to exceed 20 millimetres (mm) per hour and lasting for over an hour.
