Melaka govt hopes for allocation to upgrade schools

MELAKA, Feb 27 (Bernama) — The state government hopes that applications by schools in Melaka which need to upgrade their facilities and infrastructures would be approved through the RM2.3 billion allocation provided under Budget 2023.

State Education, Technology and Telecommunications Committee chairman Datuk Rais Yasin said this is so that schools which are dilapidated and have damaged facilities can be repaired immediately through the allocation provided under the Ministry of Education.

“This includes constructing new buildings to replace cabins which have been used as classes and have been in existence for over 10 years.

“Repairing the schools identified in Melaka will surely lead to the provision of more conducive classrooms so that teaching and learning sessions can be carried out in a comfortable and safe environment,” he told reporters, here, today.

Earlier, Rais, who is also chairman of the Board of Directors of the Melaka International College of Science And Technology (MiCoST), represented YM Mediscience Sdn Bhd in the signing of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Felcra Education Services Sdn Bhd (FESSB) and Todak Academy at Bandar Melaka, here, today.

Also present were MiCoST chief executive officer Datuk Mohamad Azmi Sabtu, FESSB general manager Datuk Hazrinor Hisham Harun and Todak Academy chief executive officer Mohamad Taufik Rizal Aminuddin.

Meanwhile, Rais said the strategic collaboration forged with the two parties would further improve efficiency in the programmes offered by MiCoST to meet the needs of the industry in related fields, including in Technical and Vocational Education (TVET).
