Melaka Expands BMSS Campaign To District Level

MELAKA, The Bulan Malaysia Sihat Sejahtera (BMSS) celebration in Melaka has been expanded to the district level through activities undertaken by the state health department to empower the people’s health.

State Health, Human Resource and Unity Committee chairman Datuk Ngwe Hee Sem said the move complemented the Agenda Nasional Malaysia Sihat (ANMS) initiatives to realise the government’s goals to produce a healthy society by cultivating a healthy lifestyle.

“The three-day state-level celebration, from Sept 13, will be held at the Melaka International Trade Centre (MITC), involving all Melaka Health Department sections and units as well as other agencies.

“This BMSS celebration also takes a preventive approach in promoting the culture of healthy living not only to increase the body’s immunity capacity in preventing and fighting any infection and disease but also with the aim of healthy ageing,” he said.

He said this in his speech at the launch of the BMSS Celebration and Kembara Sihat Sejahtera HePiLI wit
h Didi and Friends here today. Also present was state Health director Dr Rozita Mustaffa.

Ngwe said BMSS activities also focused on six main points of healthy living, including physical activity and exercise; a healthy mind; healthy and safe eating; prevention of risky behaviour; keeping the environment clean and personal hygiene as well as self-health control, health and dental screenings.

Melaka is the fourth destination of the Kembara Sihat Sejahtera HePiLI with Didi and Friends, which seeks to expand the promotion of health coverage from the age of five to improve health knowledge and skills, especially among children.
