KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) is actively exploring the integration of new technologies, such as direct-to-device systems powered by Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite technology, to enhance internet coverage across the nation, as reported during a session in the Dewan Rakyat today.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Deputy Minister of Communications Teo Nie Ching stated that this innovative approach to internet service aims to significantly benefit users, particularly in rural and remote areas. She highlighted that this initiative underscores MCMC’s dedication to advancing internet services and communication infrastructure throughout Malaysia.
Teo elaborated on the plans in response to public grievances and MCMC’s research on current coverage issues. She mentioned that part of the strategy involves identifying optimal sites for Phase 2 of the JENDELA initiative.
