MCA To Hold 71st General Assembly From Oct 19 To 20

KUALA LUMPUR, MCA will hold its 71st Annual General Assembly on Oct 19 and 20.

MCA secretary-general Datuk Chong Sin Woon said Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi is scheduled to officiate the general assembly.

‘It has been several years since we last invited an officiant, first due to the MCO (Movement Control Order), and then, after the general election, we held an assembly that addressed internal matters, so we did not invite anyone (to officiate).

‘Starting this year, we are going back to the original tradition. Yang Amat Berhormat (Ahmad Zahid) has responded that he will be present,’ he told a press conference at the party headquarters here today.

Chong said that the upcoming assembly would be attended by 1,733 delegates from Wanita MCA and 1,033 from the youth wing on Oct 19, with 2,269 representatives convening the following day.

He said that among the resolutions to be discussed at the general assembly was the party’s planning and direction in facing a different politi
cal landscape, particularly ahead of the next general election.
