MBM To Kick Off Reach Out Community Programme Next Week

KUALA LUMPUR, The Malaysian Youth Council (MBM) will hold the Reach Out Community programme from next week until this December to provide explanations on current youth-related issues.

MBM president Mohd Izzat Afifi Abdul Hamid said the programme aims to reach at least 50 districts across the peninsula to explain, among other things, the amendment to the youth age limit, which will come into force on Jan 1, 2026.

He said that the current youth age limit is 40 years, but after the Youth Societies and Youth Development (Amendment) Act 2019 (Act A1602) comes into force, it will be reduced to 30 years.

‘Although (providing explanations) is somewhat challenging due to many youths aged 18 to 25 being away for studies or work, this is a challenge we must address.

‘We are also grateful to the Ministry of Youth and Sports for providing RM5 million in financial support this year to assist the MBM administration, alongside the additional RM3 million announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim,’ he told repo
rters at the MBM Diamond Jubilee Documentary Premiere here today.

Yang Dipertua Negeri of Melaka Tun Dr Mohd Ali Mohd Rustam, who served as the ninth MBM president from 1988 to 1990, officiated the documentary screening.

Mohd Izzat Afifi said the nearly one-hour documentary highlights the various challenges faced by MBM during its 76 years of establishment and the efforts of its former leaders in producing visionary youth for national development.
