Maxis Celebrates Deepavali With 165 MySkills Foundation Students


KUALA LUMPUR, Maxis recently feted over 165 students from the MySkills Foundation in Kalumpang, Hulu Selangor, in conjunction with the Deepavali festivities.

In a statement today, Maxis said the telecommunications company personnel also attended the program to celebrate cultural diversity and togetherness.

It said that programs organised included activities to create colourful kolam designs, the preparation of traditional Deepavali dishes, and snacks such as murukku, which highlight the richness of the festival’s tradition.

“In addition, students also learnt about sustainable practices through practical gardening workshops, including planting flowers to brighten the campus.

“As part of Maxis’ commitment to contribute to the community in need, donations of kitchen equipment and school supplies were also presented to the MySkills Foundation for the benefit of the students,” the statement said.

MySkills Foundation is a non-profit organisation empowering underprivileged youth through education, skill trainin
g, and holistic development programs.

Maxis Chief Corporate Affairs Officer Mariam Bevi Batcha was quoted in the statement as saying that working with the foundation is part of the telecommunication company’s ongoing commitment to support and connect with the community.

“We are happy to spend meaningful time with MySkills Foundation students for this year’s Deepavali celebration,’ said Mariam.

As for MySkills Foundation Chairman Dr M. Shanmuga Siva, the long-term collaboration with Maxis through various joint programs since 2015, has helped enrich the lives of the institution’s students.

He said that for the Deepavali program, the interaction between the Maxis team and the students strengthened the community spirit and provided encouragement and beautiful memories.

In the meantime, in an effort to inspire closer ties this festive season, Maxis launched a video about the family ties between a daughter and her mother in conjunction with Deepavali.
