MATRADE To Lead 150 Malaysian Organisations At CAEXPO 2024

KUALA LUMPUR, The Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) will lead 150 Malaysian organisations at the China-Asean Expo 2024 (CAEXPO) in Nanning, China, from Sept 24 to 28, 2024.

In a statement, MATRADE said the delegation includes 12 government ministries and agencies, along with four trade associations, participating in the Malaysia pavilion-one of the largest since the Covid-19 pandemic.

‘The Malaysia Pavilion at CAEXPO 2024 will feature key government agencies, including the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) and the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), alongside private sector participation.

‘The focus sectors include food and beverages, agricultural products, lifestyle, healthcare and wellness, and the services sector,’ it said, noting that participation in this event could further enhance Malaysia’s export capabilities to emerging regions in China.

MATRADE added that to highlight Malaysia’s diverse economic strengths, the pavilion will also include the Ministry of Agriculture, EXIM Bank, the Malaysian Palm Oil Council, as well as various state agencies and industry bodies, reinforcing the country’s commitment to regional trade and investment growth.

The agency noted that its involvement in CAEXPO has consistently yielded strong results.

‘Over the past 20 editions, our participation in this event saw a cumulative involvement of over 2,000 of Malaysia’s small and medium enterprises and generated significant sales figures amounting to RM6.3 billion, reflecting valuable recognition of Malaysian products and services in China,’ it said.

Meanwhile, MATRADE chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Mustafa Abdul Aziz said that MATRADE’s 21st consecutive participation in CAEXPO is a testament to its commitment to elevating trade with China.

‘Our ongoing presence at this prestigious event reflects the importance we place on strengthening bilateral trade ties between Malaysia and China,’ he added.
