Malaysia E-Commerce Product Selection Expo Set To Generate RM60 Mln In Trade Transactions

KUALA LUMPUR, The Malaysia E-Commerce Product Selection Expo, making its debut from Nov 29 to Dec 1, 2024, is set to attract over 15,000 attendees from local and international markets.

According to expo organiser JMM Holding, the event is anticipated to generate around RM60 million in trade transactions.

Supported by the Malaysia Guangdong Chamber of Commerce (MGCC), the expo will take place at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC), promising a vibrant platform for showcasing the latest in e-commerce innovation.

JMM Holding founder Ellison Yang said the three-day event will showcase over 200 leading Chinese brands and small and medium-sized enterprises across various sectors, including new energy (solar photovoltaics), energy storage, charging piles, lighting, domestic appliances, and smart home products.

‘This event offers a comprehensive purchasing experience for Malaysian businesses seeking bulk orders and retail consumers exploring a wide range of products.

‘The expo will al
so highlight advanced technologies in China’s electronics sector, particularly in how new energy solutions are accelerating the green transition. It provides significant benefits, including reduced logistics costs and streamlined supply chains, which are crucial in today’s economic environment,’ he said at a press conference here today.

Yang also noted that with the recent strengthening of the ringgit, local investment banks are optimistic about Malaysia’s economic performance in the second half of the year, encouraging local businesses to take advantage of this and explore new cross-border trade opportunities.

‘This positive economic momentum offers a strategic window for businesses to expand their horizons, engage in more cost-effective trade, and seize emerging market opportunities in China and beyond.

‘The expo is not merely a trade show; it is a catalyst for growth, innovation, and deeper bilateral cooperation,’ he added, highlighting that the event will cater to both business-to-business (B2B) and bu
siness-to-consumer (B2C) markets.

Yang pointed out that the expo marks an important chapter in Malaysia-China relations, as the two countries celebrate 50 years of economic and diplomatic ties.

He noted bilateral trade between China and Malaysia surged to US$100.23 billion (US$1=RM4.333), a year-on-year increase of 10.6 per cent.

‘This impressive growth reaffirms China’s position as Malaysia’s largest trading partner for 15 consecutive years, underscoring the robust economic foundation that underpins our relationship.

‘The recent implementation of the visa-free policy has further enhanced cultural and commercial exchanges, opening new avenues for collaboration and growth,’ Yang concluded.
