MACC Lift Sultan’s Gold Cup With 2-1 Win Over Bomba FC


MELAKA, The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) defeated Bomba FC 2-1 in the Sultan’s Gold Cup football final at the Hang Jebat Stadium, Krubong here tonight to emerge champions of the tournament’s 102nd edition.

Despite trailing 0-1 in the first half, Mohd Khalid Shadan’s squad remained resilient, scoring twice in the second half to secure the win.

Bomba initially took the lead through Muhammad Aidil Syazran Sukarno in the 34th minute when his shot hit the crossbar and found the net.

In the second half, a spirited MACC fought back, equalising in the 63rd minute with a powerful strike from Ahmad Basheer Anas Shamsuri.

Less than ten minutes before full-time, MACC was awarded a penalty after Muhammad Adib Abdul Nahar was fouled, which Ahmad Basheer duly converted to complete his brace.

As champions, MACC took home RM50,000 in prize money, while Bomba received RM30,000.

The prize-giving ceremony was officiated by the Yang Dipertua Negeri of Melaka, Tun Mohd Ali Rustam.
