LTFRB reminds PUV operators of April 30 consolidation deadline

MANILA: The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) on Tuesday reminded operators of public utility vehicles (PUV) about the consolidation deadline on April 30 set by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

In a statement, LTFRB Chair Teofilo Guadiz III said the extension on consolidation granted by the President would be the last.

‘Come April 30, we will no longer allow those who did not consolidate to ply the routes of Metro Manila,’ Guadiz said.

PUV operators who fail to consolidate will have their franchises revoked by the LTFRB.

PUV consolidation, he said, is the first phase of the PUV modernization program (PUVMP) and would be followed by fleet management as the second phase.

In January, Marcos extended the consolidation deadline for PUVs after clamors from unconsolidated PUV operators.

The three-month extension aims to grant an opportunity to those who expressed the intention to consolidate but did not make the previous deadline.
