Lorry Crashes Into Home, Housewife Shocked But Safe

BUKIT KAYU HITAM, A housewife counted herself lucky to have survived without injury when a lorry crashed into the front of her house in Taman Desa Bayan Emas here today.

Shafiqa Shafie, 37, said that she was in her room before hearing the squeaks of a lorry pressing its brakes several times before crashing into her house.

‘I was just sitting when I heard the sound of a lorry, like it couldn’t engage the brakes. I tried looking through the window but couldn’t see it, so I went straight to the kitchen and when I came out of the house I saw that the lorry was already in the car porch.

“I was shocked, luckily there was a neighbour who came to help. I am grateful I got out although the lorry did not crash into the room but fragments of bricks and the ceiling fell on the bed,’ she told reporters here.

Shafiqa said her car and a motorcycle were badly damaged in the incident.

‘I was the only one at home, my husband was out for work. During the almost eight years I have been staying here, there have been a numbe

Meanwhile, Kubang Pasu police chief Supt Rodzi Abu Hassan, who confirmed the crash, said the 2.30 pm incident involved a container lorry crashing into a house, as well as two cars and a motorbike.

‘The homeowner did not suffer any injuries and is in the process of lodging a police report. The lorry driver was slightly injured and police will conduct a urine test on him,’ he said.
