KLMUC REOPENS ITS DOORS, PROVIDES FOCUSED PROGRAMMES FOR STUDENTS

The Kuala Lumpur Metropolitan University College (KLMUC) has reopened for business with a brand new look and a different approach to providing students with the skills they need to become successful in the rapidly evolving job market.

Cosmopoint Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Najmie Noordin said other than revamping the institution’s image with a new building and logo, KLMUC is also transitioning its philosophy of providing excellent tertiary education for students through 20 focused, fully accredited programmes in business, human resources, and multimedia.

“We used to want to be a big university college. But now we are more focused on giving products to our students that can be useful for them in their employment.

“Everything that has been lined up under our programmes aims to help our students become better workers, and help them to gain employment, experiences and promotions,” he said during the campus relaunch event here today.

Najmie also said the institution aims to expand its intake and cater to 1,500 students by the end of next year.

“Currently, we have about 700 students, with 50 per cent of them being working adults and the other half full-time students,” he said.

Higher Education Deputy Minister Datuk Mohammad Yusof Apdal officiated at the relaunch by unveiling the new logo, which embodies KLMUC’s ethos and unwavering dedication to excellence.

Mohammad Yusof said KLMUC’s relaunch was important for the institution to maintain its relevance and competitiveness.

“Such a transformation will inculcate a culture of innovation, creativity and leadership among the younger generation.

“The new KLMUC campus is strategically located in the centre of Kuala Lumpur city, providing easy access to youths and serving as an attraction for those from the rural areas to migrate here for further studies,” he said in his speech.

He also praised KLMUC for allocating five spots for underprivileged B40 students to study for free under the ministry’s Sulung Student Development (SULUNG) programme.

“This SULUNG programme is targeting the first representatives from B40 families who succeed in entering an institution of higher learning, and they will be given the necessary aid and support.

“For 2023, a total of 10,000 undergraduates who are first representatives from B40 families will be given full study fees exemption at all 20 public universities, he said.
