King’s scholarship programme opens for application

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 19 — The Public Service Department (PSD) has invited qualified Malaysian citizens to apply for the Yang di-Pertuan Agong 2022 Scholarship (BYDPA).

PSD said a total of 12 scholarships are being offered, with six each at the Master’s and PhD levels, locally and abroad, in the fields of Science and Technology, Economics, Law and Islamic Finance.

Among the eligibility requirements for the scholarship is the candidates should be Malaysian citizens aged under 35 on Jan 1, 2022.

“Other requirements include excellent academic results, with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 3.75, or first-class or its equivalent at the Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree level,” it said in a statement issued today.

Another condition is the candidates have been offered full-time studies or have started full-time studies in the year of the offer, at institutions of higher learning listed by the PSD.

“Candidates at the Master’s level are required to prepare a research paper or dissertation, as only the research mode is allowed,” read the statement.

Active in creative and innovative works such as writings and designs or technology and so on, is an advantage for Master’s Degree candidates, and mandatory for PhD candidates.

It also said that applicants can complete the application form online through the portal http://esilav2.jpa.gov.my, starting today.

The completed application form, together with the required supporting documents, must be submitted and received by the PSD before or on Feb 22, either by hand or post.
