NANTONG (China): The Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) will consider establishing a sports development partnership with the city of Nantong, China, which has produced many world champions. Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh said the matter was raised during a meeting with Nantong Municipal People’s Government Deputy Mayor Yu Lizhong, with discussions focused on the possibility of setting up athlete training camps and bringing in coaches from the city.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, training camps are a crucial aspect for sports development, and Nantong is being considered as a potential destination. Minister Yeoh noted that Malaysia currently employs coaches from China in sports such as diving, swimming, and Wushu, and expressed interest in expanding this collaboration to other areas where expertise is needed. She emphasized the importance of leveraging Nantong’s expertise and resources to enhance Malaysia’s sports programs.

men in sports, taking advantage of Nantong’s reputation as a sports city. Her visit to Nantong coincides with the inaugural ASEAN-China Wushu Championship, which features 1,500 participants from 10 ASEAN countries, including 13 Malaysian athletes. The championship, running until next Wednesday, aims to strengthen sports diplomacy and offers athletes a platform to showcase their skills and gain valuable experience.
