China Media Group journalist Liang Liang or affectionally known as Husna, 30, said jobs that use the Malay language in China are not limited to education only, but are expanding to cover various fields such as agriculture, automation and tourism.
‘For example, I covered a story on staff of Perusahaan Otomobil Nasional Sdn Bhd (Proton) who were sent to attend industrial training with China’s largest carmaker, Geely Auto Group in Hangzhou,’ she told Bernama here today.
“I feel that in the future, Geely Auto Group needs Malaysians who are fluent in Malay to facilitate the sharing of technical knowledge between the two automated companies.’
Husna and four other CMG journalists are part of a four-day visit to Malaysia, which started yesterday, to introduce the country’s culture as well as to increase interact
ion between the communities here.
Husna, who has became popular on social media, grabbed the attention of Malaysians since 2020 as she writes and speaks in Malay in videos giving tips on COVID-19 prevention on her Facebook page.
She, who is currently tasked with producing news about China in the Malay language, said currently 16 universities and colleges in China offer Malay as a foreign language major.
“When I was studying at the Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU), I saw the need for more Malaysians to teach correct grammar and culture to Chinese students,’ she said.
“Now is the time for anyone who has a good command of Malay grammar and is interested in exploring life experiences in China,” she also said, adding that halal food in China is also becoming easier to get.
