JGE2024 To Serve Up A Feast For Amateurs, Professionals And Golf Industry Players


ISKANDAR PUTERI, The Johor Golf Expo 2024 (JGE2024) will provide a great opportunity for more than 600 local amateur golfers to compete against professional players in the tournament hosted at the Senibong Golf Club on Oct 18.

The tournament, held in conjunction with the JGE2024, is a premier golfing event that will help enhance Johor’s economic growth and position Johor as the premier destination for golf enthusiasts, industry professionals and businesses, tourists and travellers, families and social groups and general public.

Champions Golf, in collaboration with Kumpulan Prasarana Rakyat Johor’s KPRJ Sports Sdn Bhd (KSSB), are co-organisers for JGE2024.

Champions Golf Managing Director Matthew A. Murry said the tournament, which targets local and international players, also offers a cumulative prize of RM14,000 for amateur players and RM40,000 for professional players.

Apart from the golf tournament, the expo aims to celebrate golf’s rich history by bringing together various stakeholders in the sport,
including golf equipment manufacturers, retailers, course owners, travel providers, training services, technology innovators and golf associations.

‘The JGE2024 promises to be a landmark event for golf enthusiasts and emphasises golf’s ability to unite people across cultures and generations,’ he said at the launch of JGE2024 at the KPRJ Group’s office on Saturday.

He added that through the support of KPRJ, the company intends to attract international players, increase the level of competition and expand the appeal of the tournament plus provide various activities throughout the two months of JGE2024 to further promote Johor as a leading destination for the sport.

‘We are very excited to welcome the presence of golfers from all over Asia and the Middle East to try the greatness of playing golf in Johor, in a country rich in culture and hospitality,’ he said.

Meanwhile, KPRJ Chief Executive Officer Datuk Lukman Abu Bakar said the collaboration was also among the efforts boost the tourism sector and Johor’s
economy.

‘KPRJ is committed to advancing the development of sports in Johor by promoting golf as a lifestyle. The cooperation with Champions Golf is not only aimed at raising the dignity of this sport, but also to stimulate economic growth and promote tourism in the state,’ he said.

JGE2024 is committed to raising awareness about the sport of golf while also contributing to Johor’s economic growth with more than 70 exhibitors, including businesses as locals will showcase the latest innovations in golf, sports and recreation products.

Fishing, walking, cycling, footgolf and music festivals are also organised to create an inclusive atmosphere that appeals to all parties, he said.

On the economic front, the Malaysian golf industry has experienced remarkable growth, driven by tourism, investments and burgeoning local interest in the sport and last year the golf industry contributed an impressive RM286 million to the economy, exceeding initial forecasts of RM249.5 million.
