KUALA LUMPUR, The International Sepaktakraw Federation (ISTAF) for the first time has mandated that all teams in the premier division must participate in the team Regu event at World Sepaktakraw Championship 37th Thai King’s Cup scheduled to take place from Sept 1 to 8 in Korat, Thailand.
ISTAF Secretary General Abdul Halim Kader in a statement said that this new requirement aims to elevate the competition level and ensure that the best teams are showcased in this prestigious category adding an exciting dimension to the championship.
‘Additionally, ISTAF announced plans to prepare a comprehensive masterplan aimed at creating the best broadcast concept and strategy.
‘This initiative is designed to ensure the championship reaches a global audience, providing an exceptional viewing experience and enhancing the sport’s international profile,’ he said after attending a coordination meeting with Takraw Association of Thailand, today.
Abdul Halim said a total of 33 countries will be participating in this champi
onship reflecting the global reach and growing popularity of Sepaktakraw and this diverse participation promises a thrilling and competitive atmosphere, showcasing the sport’s best talent from around the world.
The 37th Thai King’s Cup Sepaktakraw Championship will feature a wide array of events for both men’s and women’s teams across three categories:
I. Premier Category (Men and Women)
1. Team Regu Event (Compulsory)
2. Regu Event
3. Doubles Event
4. Mix Doubles Event
5. Mix Quadrant Event
6. Mix Regu Event
7. Hoop Event (added event)
* Total Premier Players: 12 players per team. Countries participating in the Hoop Sepaktakraw can send up to 15 players.
II. Division One Category (Men and Women)
1. Regu Event
2. Mix Regu Event
3. Doubles Event
4. Mix Doubles Event
5. Mix Quadrant Event
6. Hoop Event (added event)
* Total Division One Players: 9 players per team. Countries participating in the Hoop Sepaktakraw can send up to 12 players.
III. Division Two Category (Men only, as it is a new p
laying country)
