LYON, An increase in allocation for the 2025 Budget, along with close collaboration between industry players and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions, is necessary to produce more highly skilled youth in the country.
GreenControls Technology chief executive officer Peng Wah Siew highlighted that the TVET sector in Malaysia is experiencing steady growth and has successfully produced a significant number of skilled youth.
“I prefer to hire skilled workers over those with purely academic qualifications because they perform their tasks more effectively.
“My suggestion is for stronger collaboration between TVET institutions and industries, so that youth can acquire the essential skills that industries need today, along with increased government funding,” he told Bernama during the WorldSkills Competition (WSC 2024).
GreenControls is the only Malaysian company sponsoring products in the Electric Installation skill category at WSC 2024.

hal Hair Salon, expressed hope that the government and industry players will help provide sufficient funding and opportunities for youth to gain substantial experience in the TVET field.
The national expert in hairdressing at WSC 2024 emphasised the need for increased industry involvement to expose youth to the realities of the working world.
“I hope the government allocates a sufficient budget, as the hairdressing field, for instance, requires substantial funding due to the high cost of equipment,” said Khaljaksa, who has 37 years of experience in the field.
Yesterday, Deputy Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Mohamad stated that the ministry is focused on strengthening TVET institutions under its purview through the 2025 Budget.
The 2025 Budget, themed Ekonomi MADANI, Negara Makmur, Rakyat Sejahtera will be tabled in the Dewan Rakyat on Oct 18.
