Immigration Officers Urged to Prioritize Trust and Integrity in Duties – DG.

PORT DICKSON: Immigration Director-General Datuk Zakaria Shaaban has urged all personnel and enforcement officers of the Malaysian Immigration Department (JIM) to always uphold the principles of trust and loyalty while maintaining their service integrity. He emphasized that JIM personnel should serve as role models for other agencies by practising the values of integrity and transparency in carrying out their duties.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Datuk Zakaria stated that officers with disciplinary and integrity issues have no place in JIM or any government agency. He stressed that national sovereignty and security must always be prioritized and safeguarded. As one of the country’s enforcement agencies, JIM serves as the first security fortress that protects Malaysia’s sovereignty and security, particularly in regulating the nation’s 141 entry points. He delivered these remarks at the passing out parade of immigration officers at the Malaysian Immigration Academy.

A total of 361 officers, comprising thr
ee Grade KP29 assistant immigration officer cadets and 358 Grade KP19 immigration officer cadets, participated in the parade after successfully completing four months of training that began on July 1 at the academy. Zakaria mentioned that these officers would be assigned to all the country’s main entry points, including Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), the Sultan Iskandar Building, the Sultan Abu Bakar Complex in Johor Bahru, as well as state JIM offices.

He further explained, “We are assigning a large number of new officers to KLIA and Johor Bahru because of the high number of posts available there. To fill these vacancies, we are placing more officers in these two main places.”

Meanwhile, the recipient of the Best Overall Cadet Award, Mohd Nazmi Nor Sham, 25, from Papar, Sabah, expressed his gratitude for being named the best cadet for this session. As the second of three siblings, he affirmed his determination to be an officer of high integrity, thus safeguarding the department’s distinguished
reputation.

“After two unsuccessful attempts, I am proud to have finally become an immigration officer. I aim to prove that the department’s slogan ‘Integrity, Professional, and Friendly’ can be embodied by dedicating myself fully to every task assigned,” he said. The recipient of the overall best cadet award is evaluated based on academic performance, character, and participation throughout the training period.
