HIKAM Pushes For Comprehensive Investigation Into Gisbh

KUALA LUMPUR, Himpunan Gerakan Islam Malaysia (HIKAM) is urging the authorities to conduct a comprehensive investigation into GISB Holdings Sdn Bhd (GISBH), and hoped that it would be conducted transparently and fairly.

HIKAM, comprising of Wadah Pencerdasan Umat Malaysia (WADAH), Pertubuhan IKRAM Malaysia (IKRAM), Angkatan Belia Islam Malaysia (ABIM) and Pertubuhan Himpunan Lepasan Institusi Pendidikan Malaysia (HALUAN), issued a joint statement urging for immediate legal action should there be any violation be found.

‘HIKAM supports Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s statement on the immediate investigation into GISBH and welcomes the recent instructions of Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar that the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) set up a special committee to investigate and study the GISBH group doctrine,’ HIKAM said, stressing that Islamic teachings must be preserved in line with Maqasid Syariah.

‘It is vital for all
of us to ensure that Islamic teachings and practices are practised properly and are not subject to deviations. HIKAM will continue to monitor the developments of this issue and cooperate with the authorities to ensure justice and truth prevail,’ it said.

GISBH is currently being investigated by Malaysian authorities over alleged exploitation and abuse of children under its care.
